MTC week #4

"We're almost halfway through!  Isn't insane how fast it goes?  I wish I could've seen that special on the Vatican Library, I love everything to do with Italian (especially Roman) history.  Fratello Bulloch told us this story about his Italian Professor here at BYU.  Apparently he has been allowed 2 or 3 times to view the original Bible scripts in the Vatican Library. "

" I wish I could've been there for Dillon's farewell.  I'm so excited to have him here in the MTC with me.  Only a few more weeks right?   I got my package alright.  It worked out well because I opened it in class and I immediately had 3 or 4 Elders offering for tie-trades.  It's funny.  Before the mission, us Elders would've gone crazy over $100, some concert tickets or a new car.  Now we go nuts over tie-trades, letters and packages from home.  Keep those letters coming!  Even if I can't reply to them all, and I can only write one day a week, it's still nice to get them :)  "

"Anyways, Anziano Hays and I are off to the temple now!  Io so che la Chiesa e vera, e Dio ci ama.  Joseph Smith era una profeta degli ultimi giorni.  I love this gospel.  Ci vediamo!"

MTC week #3

"I met an Elder Proctor in gym this week!  Someone called out to an "Elder Proctor" and both of us responded. ("What? Huh?... Woah!!)  His family is out of Pleasant Grove.  I think we're related via Grandpa Proctor's dad.  Great Grandpa Proctor's brother maybe?  No lo so (i don't know)."

"April Fools Day was a success I think.  The night before, we took Aj's advice and put an alarm clock in another companionships room and set it for 5:30.  We were going to put it inside their electrical panel, but we didn't have a screwdriver.  The Shock Pen worked amazingly.  I felt bad that the first person I used it on was Sister Bowman in my district.  But she was a good sport about it."
" I'm SO glad I was able to be here in the MTC for Conference Weekend.  It was the most amazing thing ever.  I didn't even notice until I was in bed Sunday night that we spent up to 12 hours sitting in those seats this weekend.  And it zoomed by. ........  I'll have to hand write my favorite parts of Conference because there's SO much I loved, and my little red clock is ticking down to 14:30 left.  Although, I will say, my absolute favorite part of Conference was the Sunday Morning Session when President Monson set aside time to talk about the Rome Temple.  All of us Anziani e Sorelle were almost jumping out of our seats with excitement.  An eternal Temple in the Eternal City.  Who would've ever thought we'd be blessed with a temple in Rome! "
"Also, Sister Jones (the one you asked if i knew) said she met another Elder from Park City here in the MTC.  Do we know an Elder Larsen who is going to Chile?....... I got a letter from Mat Mat yesterday (shout out).  It was awesome to hear from him.  Anyways, my timer just hit 5 minutes and is now beginning to flash down the time.  I feel like I'm trying to diffuse a bomb.
The Italian is coming along wonderfully.  I love my district, and my teachers Fratello Tate and Fratello Bulloch.

Love,

MTC week #1 and #2

Note:   Andrew's first email home was 2 sentences long.  "Mom,  I wrote you a letter. You should receive it in a day or two.  Love, Andrew"   (Although I was disappointed at such a short email, he did make up for it by hand writing a long letter home and to many other friends and family.  He redeemed himself the 2nd  week)

WEEK #2:  "Sorry about last week!  It was kind of hectic trying to figure out the new system with the washers and dryers, so trying to type an email was pretty stressful.  BUT.  I have it figured out.  Anyways, y'all wanted to know more about my collega (companion), roommates, district, etc.  Anziano Hays is my comp, and is from Simi Valley California.  I think it's in Ventura County.  He's super smart and knows a lot about the Gospel so I couldn't have a better first comp.  The YSA Elders lived with him back home, so he's gone on splits with them a bunch.  I'm sorta wishing I would've done that."
"I've been playing basketball every day in gym.  It's amazing how good of shape basketball can keep you in just by playing 5 or so games to 7 points.  I'm getting better I think.  I'm having less and less travels and swats, and more and more 3 pointers and drives to the basket.  Makes me wish I would've played basketball in high school. "
"We have started teaching in the TRC (Teaching Resource Center) and also started teaching a Progressive Investigator played by our teacher Brother Tate (Fratello Tate in italiano).  His name is Giusepe.  He's Buddhist and doesn't believe in God.  Pray for him will you?"
"Anyways, the red clock in the top right of my monitor is starting to near zero, so I'll finish this off.  I love it here in the MTC.  It's weird to think that I'm pretty much 1/4 done here.  Before we know it, we'll be off to Milan!  I know this Church is true, and I'm so happy to be able to serve the Lord and il popolo d'Italia.  Vi amo e ci vediamo!"
